My gear and fuel for this morning included a Bondi Band, 2 packets of Gu gel (my new favorite, mint chocolate, and I tried vanilla orange for the first time - yum!), a packet of Orange Gu Chomps (double-yum!), and I was able to try out my GoLite HydroClutch filled with orange Powerade Zero. I also had a bottle of water, banana and a Chill Towel waiting outside for me at home when I returned. (Product reviews and giveaways on all of these products will be posted later this month.... I'm too exhausted write now to post them!! Make sure you are a followers, so that you don't miss them!!)
I ended up running for over 3:15 this morning. I didn't plan my run this morning and was unsure how I would perform. I actually had some butterflies in my stomach before I started my stop watch today. But, I kept myself fueled and consumed everything and the HydroClutch was AWESOME! I don't know how I've never run with water before. I always would loop back to the house or stop at a park, but the fountains aren't flowing yet here, so this bottle was awesome. (more on that later!). Since I didn't have to loop back home today, I was able to run all over town ... I discovered new paths and trails and new parks to take the kids to this summer (I can't wait!). The new scenery really made the time go by much faster (especially since I don't run with music). The weather was absolutely amazing! It was upper 50's to 60's during my run and very little breeze. The sun was shining and I even got some sun on my face and my arms for the first time this year. Talk about feeling good!
I returned home at 11:45, took a shower (how awesome does a hot shower feel after a long run like that?!), gave the kids a bath and we headed to my parents' house for a belated easter egg hunt with my extended family. We spent the entire afternoon playing and eating outside and took in the beautiful weather. I put them in their jammies before we left and Little Dude fell asleep on the way home. What an amazing day.
** 20 miles down! **
Sounds like a great workout. Nice that your gear all worked out for you.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it was fun just discovering your route as you went!
I'm loving all the green :) Cute Bondi Band. You look amazing after running that far. I love the feeling after a great run. I'm glad everything worked out so well.
ReplyDeleteI was sidetracked with a sick kiddo today. That was a bummer. She's still holding out for the Mommy & Me/Girls On The Run Giveaway. It's all I've heard about today :)

ReplyDeleteHow do you look so good after a 20 mile run haha. I would be passed out. Kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo for getting your 20miler done! That's awesome! I have a Nathan handheld water bottle that I absolutely love! I run on a lot of trails that don't have water stops, so it's been an essential piece of running gear for me!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love your bondiband...the dots are soo cute! :)
What did you do with the 2nd bottle of water? Did you stash it somewhere before the run or carry it?
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the 20 miler. I get butterflies in my stomach everytime I think about doing my first run over 13.5 miles and they are coming up soon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on doing your 20 miler! :) I remember my first 20 mile run, not too long ago... I never thought I'd be able to do it.
