Goals for Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon

I have the miles under my belt and am well aware of the mind games that are in store for me on Sunday morning. Several trips to the bathroom with an upset stomach pre-race. Trouble downing my energy bar. Readjusting the safety pins on my race bib 50 times.

I will be running my third marathon this weekend, in Milwaukee this time, and can’t wait. Hubby will be running the Lakefront Marathon (HERE) with me, too. And, did I mention ... no kids for 24 hours?! I will miss them, but I just can't imagine pushing that Little Red Car for 26 miles ...

As I mentioned, my feet have really been bothering me, from my high heels at the office. Especially the top of my left foot. I wore flip-flops and tennis shoes all week to work. I really babied them this week. I felt frumpy and not my usual self, but I hope that I benefit on Sunday. I really hope that it doesn’t flare up during the race and prevent me from reach my goals.

Speaking of goals …

I had a 4:37-and change at the 2008 Chicago Marathon (Oct 2008) and a 4:26:56 at the 2010 Madison Marathon (May 2010).

Goal #1 – PR and go sub 4:27 again
Goal #2 – 4:20
Goal #3 – 4:15

The weather conditions should suck at the start line at 8 am. Low of 39F and high of 55F. Brrrrr. Temperature should be pretty ideal a mile or two into the race, though. The chance for precipitation increased from 10% to 30% since the last time I checked. We should be good after the clock starts! The course is flat and in a city I've never run through. So, I hope to keep my mind occupied.

Here is the fabulous outfit … and matching Bondi Band … that I plan to wear for this 26.2 mile journey. I have decided to wear my 2010 Disney Princess Half Marathon technical top. I have a throw away sweatshirt to toss during the first mile. I plan to carry my GoLite HydroClutch (HERE) (Handheld Water Bottle) with me during the entire race yet again. Love that thing! My pink CEP Compression Socks (HERE) should keep my legs and feet fresh ... and warm.

I hope to see Chelsea again from Early Runner (HERE) and meet Amy from Running is Cheaper than Therapy (HERE) after the race. If anyone else will be racing, please let me know.

See you on the flip-side of mile 26.2!!

  19. Have fun this weekend. Your outfit is very cute. I have never worn my compression socks while running - I always think it will make me too hot - but this weekend should be perfect temp's for the run.

Enjoy the marathon - can't wait to read your race report.
