Instead of sipping on the bottles I took each bottle out and drank the entire thing within a minute or so and then put it back in it’s holder empty. I don’t like listening to that swish-swash sound while I’m running. It drives me crazy. I heard this tip from a triathlete and it seemed to work well. I did have some trouble getting the bottles back in the holders, but simply turned the belt around to the front and then replaced the bottles. No biggie.
The bottles are dishwasher safe, which is a biggie for this mama! Our dishwasher was full of my bottles and hubby’s bottles on Sunday evening’s run of the dishwasher!
The removable waste pocket was handy. I kept my cell phone in a baggy as well as my car key (since I was on a “destination run”. It’s also great for cash and energy gels. It’s also cool because it IS removable.
I liked the adjustable wasteband. The belt adjusts to waist sizes 24 inches to 44 inches. You could adjust the front portion with the velcrow, as well as the adjustable strap. This was really helpful during my long run. I adjusted it quite a few times. Not necessarily because it was moving up or down, but because my comfort level was changing. Sometimes my lower tummy annoys me, sometimes my ribcage annoys me. You know how it goes. Constant battle.
I did find that since I was feeling so terrible on my long run, that the belt started causing “phantom” tummy aches towards the end. I was mostly worried that it would bounce up and down (something I hate!), and it didn’t. This thing didn't shift or bounce. It fit snug and against my body which was great. But, I’ve gained a few pounds in recent months and I think I had adjusted it too tightly on my belly. Which caused some phantom stomach aches. Hopefully, I can shed a few pounds and feel a bit more comfortable the next time I’m out with it.
It was difficult at first having some added wait on my back (the bottles), but I adjusted. It didn’t rub or chafe on my back, which was a worry of mine. Also, the breathable Therafoam wicks sweat away just like your other running gear!
The cool thing is that this belt is totally customizable – you can mix/match/add bottles, contraptions, lights, pockets, bib attachments. You can make this thing work for YOU!!
