Louis Garneau Power Mesh Compression Top & Shorts Review & Giveaway

I have heard all about Louis Garneau (HERE) ever since I got into running. But, only because I've surrounded myself with like-minded people, like triathletes and cyclists. I had associated the Louis Garneau brand name with those disciplines, but not with running. I browsed their website last winter, when I was looking for compression clothing and running tights, and discovered that they have a quite the selection. As I took up more cold, winter running last year, as I found myself with more time on my hands, I needed more winter running gear.

About the Louis Garneau Company (from their website):

For over 25 years, Louis Garneau has been an innovator in the world of cycling. What started in his father's garage has grown into an internationally recognized industry leader that specializes in the design and development of technological and innovative gear. We take great pride in our extensive product line that addresses the needs of all types of cyclists and athletes. We strive to produce products that exceed expectations and set benchmarks for technology and performance in the industry. We transform intuitive ideas into intelligent products. We capture an audience of millions of cyclists worldwide through our products and not only have we built a company from their needs, we offer a cycling solution which includes a one stop shop for all your cycling needs.

Louis Garneau offers and mens and women's specific running gear (HERE). The prices are a bit more steep than what I'm use to, generally ranging from $75-$100 per item, but the fit is awesome. It's not often that I personally will sport compression gear (other than compression socks!) alone, without a running skirt or shorts over the top! But, these products I tried really hit me in the right spots, snug where they should be, and gave where I needed it! I typically wear a medium and was sent a medium in both pieces. They fit comfortable, but I could have probably gone up one size in each (just because of my preference with compression gear). But, still ... the size/fit was not a problem.

Womens Compression SS Top in White (HERE) - $89.99
The Compression SS offers the benefits of Certified Lycra Power Compression for the upper body. Lycra Power supports blood circulation and helps resist fatigue in the muscles. The Compressive Fit is not restricting and is designed to facilitate your muscle movement.

Womens Compresson Shorts in Black (HERE) - $74.99

The compressive fit of the Compression Shorts favors blood circulation and promotes muscular stability and injury prevention. Powerband compressive cuff replace traditional silicone grippers that cut off the bloody supply. Huggfit waist for women provides a compressive not restrictive fit.

I tried the top on quite a few runs, paired with different bottoms. I tried the shorts on only two shorter distance runs. They didn't ride up and prevented chaffing on my mommy thighs. The top didn't bunch up either. I often experience a lot of riding up in the front, at the end of a race or a sweat session. I hate having my tummy exposed for all to see. This didn't happen. The material for both pieces is soft, smooth and COMFORTABLE (to the ultimate!). I never thought compression gear could be COMFORTABLE?! But, this was. It was a bit tough to stuff myself into it at first, but I felt comfortable ... and confident ... wearing both pieces out on my runs.

They held up great through sweat and some drizzle outside. I felt as fresh as one can be after a good training run. I didn't feel drenched or terribly stinky afterwards.

Their pieces tend to be available in white and black only. My only beef with their products is that they aren't "gender specific" in color and don't offer a variety of options. You all know I like to be vibrant and stand out on the course ... and their products just don't offer that. But, if I can pair it with a fab running skirt (like I did!), then I'm game!
