Gift Baskets

I love picking up odds and ends, things that remind me of someone, or just good deals. I love digging through the dollar bin at Target, running through the dollar store and thrift stores. Sometimes I end up with a pile full of junk and wonder how I'm going to present these random items in a gift-worthy way.

Lately, I've been making up a lot of gift baskets as fun .... and affordable .... presents. They have been a HUGE hit with the recipients.

My sister is an animal print lover (like myself). I made her up a bright, summertime gift basket for her 17th birthday. The card store even had brightly-colored animal print balloons that matched (if you can believe it?!), and I affixed those. I even made her a matching card and envelope. She loved it! We definitely made an entrance at Red Lobster!!

At the end of her year of kindergarten, Little Diva presented her teacher with this little number. All items (basket, frame, candle, planter) were purchased from the dollar store!!

I came across the cute poem on the internet.

For Father's Day, I purchased some randome items that fit my husband's interests and put them all in a (FREE!) metal basket that we had hiding away down stairs. The hodge podge of randomness varied from Scrabble, Disney, and Clif bars!! But, it all fit together, because it was "him". I picked up the Scrabble-to-go game after the holidays when stocking stuffers were 75% off. Some of the other items were picked up at Savers (thrift store) and at discount on Amazon.

I'm currently thinking up some ideas for a few special birthdays this month.
What would you like to see
in YOUR gift basket??

  1. This reminds me of stuffing stockings at Christmas time - my FAVOURITE part of the holidays. I'd love to find a good magazine, gummi candies or a little craft in my basket.

  7. A running one would be awesome because I still haven't been able to try most of the cool running products out there (bondi bands, GU, socks, whatever blocks are?) But I wouldn't hate on getting some mini butterfingers either!

  10. I love gift baskets and make them up for friends often...so much so that I just re-launched my gift basket business that I use to run years ago!

Your baskets are great - very creative!!

  11. If it is for a runner, Bondi band, elastic bands for the hair, safety pins, socks, GU gels/chomps, chewing gum (just because I like to chew gum when I run).

Or just a bunch of random stuff that I like. I like drugstore makeup, cook, bake, eat, journal, write cards, so a little bit of everything would be a nice gift too. It is like a basket of surprises.
