About PureFit Bars:
PureFit bars were developed by a runner for a runner. Founded in 2001 by fellow runner Robb Dorf (HERE), PureFit bars have been used successfully 10 years.
As high performance athletes, we all know how challenging it can be to ensure that we are providing our bodies with balanced, complete nutrition. We know it is vital to consume nutrients that will digest easily, and not upset our stomachs. Many nutrition bars contain ingredients like dairy that can be difficult to digest, something that is not a problem with PureFit bars. Additionally, choosing a nutrition bar with the right balance of carbohydrates, fat, and protein is critical for optimal performance.
Allow me to introduce you to PureFit nutrition bars, voted BIKE magazine’s “Nutrition Bar of the Year.” Besides the fact that they are made with 100% all-natural ingredients, they do not melt! Making PureFit nutrition bars easy to carry with you on those long runs. Each delicious, vegan PureFit bar has 18 grams of all natural, gluten-free, vegan protein.
By eliminating dairy, wheat, gluten, artificial sweeteners, hydrogenated oils, or trans fats, PureFit nutrition bars provide essential nutrients that digest easily and are readily used for energy.
I tried the following flavors:
Peanut Butter Crunch
My favorite was the Peanut Butter Crunch flavor. The Granola Crunch bar wasn't what I was expecting (consistency-wise), but it was still yummy. They weren't exactly crunch like the name says. They aren't as sweet as the other bars I've tried on the market either (in other words ...they don't remind me of a candy bar!). And, like they say, they really don't melt. Crazy, I know!! These would be perfect for those warm summertime runs, or to place in your transition bags at triathlons.
As their website states: Choosing a nutrition bar with the right balance of carbohydrates, fat and protein is critical to optimal performance, and here’s why: A diet composed of approximately 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat is ideal for body fat loss and consistent energy.
These bars are solid and filling. I love that I ate one and still didn't feel hungry afterwards. I was fueled and ready for my run. The Peanut Butter Crunch bar had 220 calories, 7 g fat, 24 g carbs, 18 g protein, 2 g dietary fiber. Not too shabby ... great fuel ... tasty ... and you can burn off those calories in less than two miles!!
