Inview Designs Medal Display Case Review & Giveaway

Earlier this fall, I was contacted by the wonderful people at Inview Designs (HERE). I had not heard of this new company yet, so I was glad they contacted me. With my over-growing collection of medals this year, I'm always looking for new ways to display my accomplishments. I have several other medal display hangers, but did not have a nice case to display all of my 26.2 and 13.1 accomplishments.

I have been working with Tad over the past several weeks, regarding this review and his cases ... and this man is TRULY PASSIONATE about his business and what he does. I can tell that he puts a lot of hard work, effort and thought into every piece he does. He and his wife compete in endurance sports as well and can truly relate to catching the running-bug and the ever-growing collection of medals. You are certainly going to get FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE if you work with this company!!

About In View Designs (as taken from their website):

My Grandfather passed the woodworking “bug” onto me at a very young age. We spent hours working in his shop making furniture and hand crafted household items for our family. In 1978, at a naive 18 years old, I joined the Navy. I graduated BUD/S class 162 in 1988 and eventually retired from the SEAL Teams in 2005 after 25 years of Naval service. During my time in the Navy, my wood shop was always my first choice of mental relaxation and escape. Late in my Navy career, I met my girlfriend … now wife. She introduced me to Marathons which quickly morphed into triathlons, so I know the struggles of concentrated efforts. I quickly grew to appreciate the drive and commitment that is required for endurance and competitive racing.I noticed that my wife Tracy (an avid runner) kept all of her marathon medals in the ‘junk’ basket on the dresser. It didn’t seem reasonable for something she loves so much, has invested so much time and money in, to be randomly thrown into the abyss of woe. I gave a little thought to it and designed the first In View display case. When I gave her the case, complete with her 10 marathon medals … well … it would be difficult to describe how happy she was. Her face still lights up to this day as she looks at her case, her achievements, and relives every precious and painful moment. In View display cases are a special way to remember where we came from, what our struggles were, and also a gentle reminder for the next race or competition. These displays are also a great way to encourage your children that what they are doing is important and significant while developing long term goal setting behaviors; a must for successful accomplishment of any endeavor. It is because of several significant people that I have made it this far and I would like to thank them for their guidance and inspiration. First my wife for her love, support and patience; my children, for their constant reminders that I’m just a man; to my brother Mark Lopez for being my friend, sounding board and providing his photographic acumen; to my life-long friend Craig Rogers for his hours of contribution in my personal endeavor; to Michael Jaramillo for his web design talent; and most of all, to You, the customer, for being inspired to achieve and compete (after all, isn’t competition the elixir of life). We hope that you find In View display cases as the inspirational solution to whatever competitive challenges you have accomplished or aspire to.
From one over achiever to another … see you at the finish-line.

I received a "Loved It" Medal Display Case (HERE). I chose to go with black and am so glad I did. It's absolutely classy. The "Loved It" Medal Display Case retails for $185. Measures 2 3/4 x 19 x 28 inches and holds 10 to 18 medals. It's available in five different stain colors, too.

I chose to use this special case to display only my full marathon medals, of which I currently have four. This case is too special to just display anything and everything. Now, I need to run a lot more 26.2 mile courses to fill it up!

Product specifications include:
-Personally selected solid Red Oak frame with American Maple plywood panels that enhance your awards
-Hand crafted, hand sanded, hand finished
-Streamline, low profile design (extends 2 ¾” from wall)
-Offered in a 3 wood finishes: Walnut, Chestnut or Ebony
- Durable, Plexiglass viewing medium
-Simple set-up process (see video for step-by-step instructions)
-Ready-to-use out of the box, including wall hangers
-Versatile, you choose your medal positions or include race pictures, certificates or other event memorabilia.
-Handcrafted in America

I could have easily hung the case by myself, because Tad sent me some instructions and has a nice video on You Tube (HERE) with great information on how to hang your case. But, I opted to play it safe and have my good ol' dad help me out when he was over recently. Hey, it makes him feel useful, right?! He displayed it in no time and it's securely mounted on the wall.

The price tag of $185 is a bit steep for me, but there are so many different sizes available, that the prices really range from $115 - $245. If you are looking at making a nice, solid investment in a way to display your medals, this is the way to go. I have other medal display racks that I absolutely love and they totally fit my personality and the decor in my home gym (bright pink!) but these cases are a great way to display your accomplishments anywhere in your home! They are bold, sleek and classy. They would like great in a den, office or living room with the rest of your home decor.

The medals are displayed proudly. But, I wish you could see some of the fabulous lanyards/ribbons that the medals are hanging on. The does get lost with displaying the medals over the wood boards this way.

You could also hang race bibs behind each medal or other pieces of memorabilia and create a shadow box for your highest achievements, such as Ironman.

These cases would be a great way to display all of your marathon medals, triathlon medals, Ironman accomplishments, Disney race series medals .... you name it!

Why not by one for your favorite runner and make someone really happy this holiday season? Chances are their medals are laying around in a shoe box or junk drawer. Help them display their accomplishments proudly ... and in style!

  2. These look great! I love how versatile they appear to be. The "did it" one might be perfect to display the medal, bib, and a photo from my first marathon :) I was really wanting to put together a shadow box kind of display for that stuff, and I might have found my solution!!
