Wake Up Call, Planning my Runs, Girls on the Run

Well, I had set the alarm to get up at 7:00 AM to take Little Diva to the Farmer's Market this morning. I am going to give her some $1 bills and see how she spends them. So excited! We had the kids up til 10:30 last night as we were sitting by the fire pit (the only excuse I really let them stay up that late for). I figured they'd sleep in. The sun was up and Little Dude was by my bedside this morning. I looked at the alarm and saw it was just before my alarm was set to go off ... sweet ... that worked out well! I hopped out of bed and went downstairs to make my coffee and saw that it was really only 6:00. Ugh. What's the deal?! I keep you up an extra 2.5 hrs after your bedtime, and you still give me an early wake-up call?!

Anyhow, that just proves to me that my attitude is everything about waking up early ... for a run. It's like that number on the clock convinces me that I'm still groggy and can't pull myself out of bed before 6:30 (unless someone wants cereal!) for a run. But, I can. I just have to open those curtains and look at the sunshine and the beautiful run that's ahead of me!

After I got my morning coffee, I glanced over my July training plan that I had posted on the refrigerator this weekend.

I have planned out my workouts for July, August and September, leading up to my next Marathon on October 3rd. I planned my miles around races (two half marathons, a 10 miler and a 5K), vacation time (extra miles) and family gatherings and events.

I July, I hope to log 166 miles, I hope! I will have several 50+ mile weeks this summer and I also planned out a 200 mile month, which although doubtful, I really hope to accomplish.

I'm hoping that seeing everything out in front of me every day, that I will be held accountable. I also hope that it helps devert me from an extra dish of ice cream, every time I walk by the freezer!!!

I recently received a nice letter from Girls on the Run International, to thank me for raising money during my 2010 Madison Marathon journey. I look forward to adding this to my marathon scrapbook. They also included a nice, stylish GOTR keychain for exceeding my fundraising goals.

Hubby and I will be racing a 5K on the Fourth of July. I am excited about PR'ing and have the most fabulous patriotic outfit planned out. Stay tuned for some fun pics and a great giveaway!!

  3. I am printing a calendar for my fridge right now. What a great idea. My marathon is in November and that will keep me motivated.

  4. I was planning my runs for July. I only hope to log in at least 60 miles though. But, instead of running on alternate days, I am trying to do only have 1 rest day per week and keep the mileage down.
Have fun at the farmer's market. That's a really cool idea to give your girl some money and see how she'll spend it. :)

I am running one tonight at 9pm and hate having to sit around waiting all day on it! Ugh. No patriotic outfits here either, but I did look for some. LOL

  17. I completely agree about the alarm clock. I've gotten up really early, thinking it was later, and gotten completely ready for my day until I realized how early it actually was.. but I was still really awake!
