Walt Disney World emailed out the program information for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and boy, is there a lot of information to take in! Buses will leave select resorts only from 3:00-4:00 AM (that's 2:00-3:00 AM Wisconsin time, people!!!!). Runners need to be in their corrals by 5:30 AM and it is a 20 minute walk to the start line. Are we nuts?!?! Yes ... We are runners.
For those of you meeting up with me that morning ... we had discussed meeting up at 5:00 AM, but I'm thinking that will be cutting it close (with photos and those last minute potty breaks!!). I'm planning to meet you all at the meeting point at 4:45 AM. I will send out an email this weekend with the meet up information, everyone's names, blogs and running attire!!
I look forward to receiving some major BLING at this event, that looks something similiar to this:
One of my most anticipated moments is running through Cinderella's Castle and running down Main Street at Magic Kingdom. I found this photo online and am already envisioning my experience. Little Diva (6 yrs) has already warned me, "You know mommy, you're going to cry tears!". She knows me all too well!
I'm told that our sweaty faces even get sprinkled with pixie dust after we cross the finish line!! Check other cool photos and documentation here.
The weather hasn't been great in Florida lately. The current conditions may be ideal for running at the race, but I want to get a tan, people!!! Please warm up ... pretty please!!
I've been so proud of my hubby lately. He's really tried to eat less processed foods lately and consume more fruits, vegetables and natural foods. I have bit a bit of an enabler lately, by baking those adorable cookies and bringing in some treats for the kids. He's been strong though and has been doing great. I know he will get down to his ideal weight before triathlon season begins. You can check out his journey as (former) clydesdale triathlete.
awwwww, the best of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteya i heard about the ridiculous early times! I wonder why they do it so early!
hope you have a great run and fabulous weather!! :)
I cannot wait to hear an update about the race! I hope to one day run a Disney race. Disney is such a magical place! I too would cry tears! :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAAAhhhhhh....I'm getting so excited...and I can't wait! Why can't it be this weekend haha!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited! 4:45 works for me! Funny about the weather, I told the hubby that it would be great for running and he was all upset he might not get a tan. Well, at least he's not the only one!
ReplyDeleteLove the post...I would LOVE to do this 1/2 next year! Looks like such a blast! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you were my first running blog I followed. Since then, I have added on plenty more, but you are still one of my favorites. Can't wait for ALLL of the pics from Disney!
running down main street disney is going to be amazing!! i might have to do this race some year!!
ReplyDeleteLast year we got a break on the early time because of the the switch to daylight savings time. They always start the races early so they can get them finished and open the parks. It's a great race, enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteI am SO jealous!! That race looks absolutely amazing!! I'm jealous, jealous, jealous!! awwww!! Lucky you!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear about the experience! Thank you much for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you!
waiting patiently for your recap, you are going to do so great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog! The Princess Half Marathon sounds like a lot of fun! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat is some serious bling...I so have to do this race while the kiddos are totally princess obsessed. have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lot of fun and i seriously love the medal.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have a blast! Yes, it is early, but SO worth it.
ReplyDeleteYikes, that's an early start. I don't function well during those hours. I'd have to adapt myself for a few weeks prior.
ReplyDeletePretty cool that your husband keeps a blog too!
Have a great trip.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE POST YET! If I wasn't excited already, which I totally was, then I would be jumping with anticipation now.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about running through that castle too! I read on a blog somewhere about a few ladies last year "woo"ing through the castle and there was a cool echo and everyone started doing it..yepp that's SO gunna be me this year.
I also watched a you tube vid where these ladies dressed up as princesses and one had a huge mermaid tail and ran the whole race like that! It's easy to find if you just start searching on there.
I agree on the earlier meet up. I'm excited to meet your other bloggy friends too.I have a little something I wanted to bring for you- will your hubby be able to hold something for you? Its small but you'll love it...
Pretty Pretty Shiny Shiny Medal! I am getting excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI hear the bling this year is supposed to be even better than last year (but I cherish my inaugural medal)...That's what they were saying at the WDW Marathon Weekend Expo booth.
ReplyDeleteThey sprinkled folks with pixie dust at the expo, but we didn't have any at the finish line. I'm not sure I'd want to be pixie dusted while all sweaty, but it could be fun :)!
There's not much better in life than running through the Castle - I love this part of Disney races. It's just truly magical and such an elating feeling.
You're going to have such a great time. I am so jealous, I'll just be running a half here in AZ this year.
Good luck - looks like it will be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you! That metal is the cutest thing ever! I wish I could do the race just for the bling lol!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds absolutely amazing! Can't wait to hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteNicole,
ReplyDeleteYep. I can hold on to it.
So excited! 4:45 sounds good! Oh, and I left a little something for on my blog =)
ReplyDeleteHave a great run at Disney - relax and have a nice vacation with the family.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your race report.
Enjoy
Good luck at the Princess race. After reading your post I have definately put this race down on my goal list. Granted, I am just training for my first race in May. Love your blog! If you have a chance you might check mine out, but Lord knows you will be busy in the next week! Good luck and I can't wait to see photos!
ReplyDeleteI was just in Orlando visiting some of the parks with my son last month!! Enjoy the race, it'll be a blast!! :)
