Another Bend in the Road .... a 13.1 Mile Detour

I am supposed to be running the IceBreaker Indoor Half Marathon in Milwaukee this morning. I have been planning on this for a couple of months now. And training for this half marathon has kept running a constant in my life right now.

Unfortunately, my aunt passed away last week and the funeral was scheduled for race day morning. Obviously, other things are much more important. And, I will be where I needed to be. With my family.

This is just another bend in the road of my journey ... a 13.1 mile detour ....

I was looking forward to the event and seeing Little Dude and Little Diva during all 47 laps around the track. And, I was looking forward to seeing some local runners and meeting up with some of you on race morning. I hope that everyone has a great time participating in such a unique event. I do look forward to hearing your thoughts, comments and race reports on the event and hope that you will forward them to me.

I do plan on spectating the full marathon event on Sunday, and seeing all of the crazies run almost 100 laps around a track for 26.2 miles!! See some of you out there.

IceBreaker would have been my first half marathon of the year, in my quest to run 12 of these babies this year. The odds seem to keep stacking against me, so that I cannot attain my goal. But, I will do it. Don't you worry. I will get those 13.1 miles in there somewhere, between now and January 31. You just wait and see ....

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. Being with your family is definitely more important right now. We know you'll get that 13.1 sometime, even though it's not today. Thinking of you as you go through this detour...

  6. Sorry for your loss - I will send a prayer to you and your family.

I am (still) planning on running in the Freeze for Food 10 k this afternoon, race starts at 1PM - brrrrrrr. I just checked and the hourly forecast is for temp of 11 / feels like -3. Heck that might be balmy - as compared to what it has been the last couple of days. I am usually OK with the cold - if and this is a BIG IF - it isn't too windy. We will see how I feel. I might be doing a "virtual" race to get something in January.

    Stay strong
