No regrets.

I don't have many regrets in life. Most obstacles are life lessons. Most failures are opportunities to improve. I just wish that I had discovered running - or something like it - earlier in life. I wish I hadn't been so shy as a kid; would have tried out for sports and would have developed a passion for something sooner. It's taught me to set goals, step outside of my comfort zone, that it's OK to be uncomfortable, risks are ok, change is good and that it's ok to do something for me. Even though I didn't discover running early on in life .... I really feel that I found it at a pivotal point in my life - when I needed it.

How old were you when you discovered running? Did it help you through a difficult time??

  1. I started running in 2010, at 39, after losing about 40 pounds. It helped me lose another 35 pounds, gain confidence and more importantly, amazing friends!

  2. I was 43 - been running now for 2 years. I started running because I couldn't walk any faster on the treadmill! I had lost 13lbs. and I've kept it off ever since because of running. I was never an athlete as a child, but have found my inner athlete now as an adult, along with a bunch of confidence and strength I didn't know I had. I am proud to call myself a runner!

  3. I ran cross country in high school and then pretty low mileage years (like, less than 200) until I was 26. That year, I joined a charity running group as a distraction from a very difficult work situation. It has meant everything.
