I might have the best running clients ...

After running on my own for six years, I have learned to love the sport. But, I have truly fallen in love with the people that I have met through the journey. Through my blog and the my races, I have met some great runners from all over the country.

In Spring 2011, I was contacted by another local blogger who heard that my local recreation program was in desperate need of a running coach. She got me in contact with the coordinator of the program's first Couch to 5K program. They had 27 excited members from the community signed up for a local 5K and were scrambling to find two coaches to train, coach and cheer the newbies to their race in the summer. The instructor was no longer able to fulfill her commitment. I had no coaching certification, just passion and enthusiasm for the sport. And, the rec program coordinator spoke with me on the phone and believed in me and experience and hired me another another local runner to co-coach the group.

Seeing newbies become RUNNERS for the first time was an amazing experience and got me even more excited about my own running, too. It was amazing seeing people initially struggle doing one minute intervals and in just nine short weeks they were running continuously in a 5K ... and excited about it.

After the program ended, I started working with my own clients that were interested in training 5Ks or were just interested in getting outside and getting active. I met some of the most amazing people through this experience and many of them have become great friends of mine. These seven people have achieved great things and many of them have made running a constant part of their lives and their daily routine.

I have now been asked by the recreation program to coach an all female training group for the current season. The group of women is simply fantastic. They are dedicated, consistent and determined. The all female program has been such a success that we will be doing it again next spring. I'm excited that there are so many women that are excited to do something so positive for themselves.

... I might just have the best

running clients ever ...

FuelBelt Sprint 10 oz Palm Holder Review & Giveaway

I've loved working with FuelBelt (HERE) in the past. We all love their products, don't we?! We see their brightly colored and FUNCTIONAL waist packs and handheld water bottles out on every marathon and half marathon course. Even thought the events provide endurance drinks and gels, it's always comforting to have your own gear with you; the things that your body is used to be fueled with. And, when you are out on a training run, their products are a fantastic way to make sure you are safe, hydrated and energized.

This time, I was sent the Sprint 10 oz Palm Holder (HERE). We all know I ADORE my handheld water bottles and I've gotten other runners hooked, too. Several of the ladies in my Couch to 5K program picked up these fab bottles at our shoe fitting clinic in several fun colors. They bring them to every training run and now love them as much as I do. I was ecstatic when I was given the opportunity to try this baby out myself.

I LOVED this bottle and the holder itself. This is the most comfortable handheld I've tried. There is something about the adjustable strap. It's super cushioned and super soft. The bottle didn't leak at all. And I can't say enough about the size. My other handhelds looks so much larger next to it. This thing now feels like nothing when I'm running with it. I love it to pieces!

The zipper pocket is perfect for a gel or key. It's not large enough for a phone however.

It's no wonder The Sprint is FuelBelt's most popular palm holder. Dede Griesbauer used the Sprint on her way to 9th place at the 2009 Hawaii Ironman, so it’s proven and tested! If you’re looking for a super comfortable way to carry 10oz with you, this is the way to go. Hand strap is fully adjustable, pocket is great for small items and 10oz bottle has an excellent feel in your hand because of its unique shape.

It's available in black, wild berry, arctic blue, hibiscus pink, kiwi green, surf blue, tangerine.

The Spring Palm Holder retails for just $11.95. Quite a small investment for an easy way to hydrate and store some items on your run. Investing in my handhelds is one of the BEST running investments I've made.

If you are looking for something smaller, FuelBelt sells a 7 oz version (HERE) and a 20 oz handheld water bottle (HERE). The 20 oz handheld is similar to what I typically use out on my runs. Check out all of the FuelBelt handheld bottles and really cool, handy-dandy accessories (HERE).

GoLite Wildwood Trail Run Top Review

I always thought that GoLite (HERE) only specialized in hydration systems ... but, I was wrong! They also sell some great performanc clothing for men and women.

Check out their sweet line of Womens Gear (HERE):

- Outerwear (HERE)
We design our lightweight outerwear to make weather conditions obsolete. Utilizing groundbreaking technology such as a reflective heat barrier, these durable jackets manage the elements with performance and panache.

- Performance Gear (HERE)
Your best days include some heart-pumping outdoor fun. We get it. Which is why we’ve got you covered, from feather-light wind jackets to athletic fleece pieces to light-speed drying tops that won’t ever slow you down.

- Baselayer (HERE)
The fastest drying baselayers around –these pieces are made without compromise. They dry fast and move well so you can forget about what you are wearing and enjoy the adventure at hand.

- Accessories (HERE)
No kit is complete without a trendy hat or visor.

I received a light-weight, Wildwood Trail Shortsleeve Run Top in White (HERE) - Retails for $45

I was sent my size Medium. It was advertised as "fitted" and I agree. Since it was white and the fabrice is really thin, I probably would have gone up a size. The fit would be PERFECT if it was a darker color. But, I personally, could see through the fabric, and see all my buldges.

This top uses lightweight, quick-dry fabrics & a UPF of 50+, this top is built to protect from the sun & heat. Fast-wicking Minerale panels, secure pocket (bonus!), and reflective logos.

The moisture management fabrics dry fast by pulling moisture away from the body, so it can quickly evaporate. The material is soft, comfortable and breathable. This top would work great on its own in the warmer months or layered with longer layers underneather or jackets over the top for cooler runs. This might just be the lightest top I own. If I didn't look down, I'd think I was running topless!! I love running gear that is fuss-free!!

I'm not sure how I feel about the white fabric. Even with a white sports bra underneath, it was still quite see through. I will definitely be layering this under and over other running gear out on my runs.

GoLite HydroSprint and Rush Pack Review

We all know how much I LOOOOOOVE my handheld water bottles. I carry them on every run now ... no matter how short of a distance I go. They are great for keeping me hydrated and carrying items such as my keys or change or my phone ... since I'm always on the go these days. I've shared my love for handheld water bottles with several seasoned runners and new runners that I'm coaching. It's spreading!

Well, my first handheld water bottle was the HydroClutch from GoLite (HERE). The folks at Outside PR sent it to me quite some time ago ... and I've been hooked ever since.

I was sent some additional samples of the GoLite Carry Gear (HERE) this year to review ... all involving NO HANDS! These products are great for long training runs, risky hikes, walks and adventures with the kids ... you name it! They are perfect for active folks like ourselves, no matter how much we are sweating. And, the best thing is they keep you hands-free! You can concentrate on your workout, or hold your little ones hand while you are out at a State Park hiking together or walking around your neighborhood or at a festival or event.

I tried out the HydroSprint (HERE). Retails for $40

When one bottle is all you need, the HydroSprint is a great choice. The best part, ladies!!! Gender-specific belt shape sculpted to carry comfortably on the hips! The stability of our wide hipbelt and No-Bounce™ strap system and ergonomic access to your bottle and gel flask lets you run long and hard.

The pack includes 1 twenty oz bottle and 1 gel flask (which can also carry water or endurance fluids). All of the pockets can be loaded up with everything you need for a walk or hike, or lightly packed for a training run with only the essentials. It has the capacity to hold a lot of stuff, but if you choose not to, it's not extra heavy. It DIDN'T bounce when I ran. But, I still prefer my handheld, just because I'm use to holding it when I run (it doesn't bother me a bit) and I don't usually like anything extra around my waist. I definitely will be wearing this to hike and on some of my longer training runs though (when I need extra space to carry things).

I was also sent the Rush Pack (HERE) to review. Retails for $70.

The fully customizable 2010 Rush does triple duty as a super-stable trail running pack, dialed mountain biking pack and great day hiking pack. The bag itself, weighs over one pound. The bag is light ... but can get heavy in no time .... because it has SOOOO many spots to store things. You can get weighed-down fast!

I would never run with this pack, myself (may you ultra marathoners could?!), but I enjoyed using this on a hike at a State Park, exploring the trails. There are two expandable pockets for water bottles, and places for gels, keys, cell phones, maps, energy bars, snacks. You can fill this pack up with things for the kids while you are on an outting ... wipes, diapers, a change of clothes for everyone, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellant. These pack has room for EVERYTHING for you and your entire active family!

The adjustable hip harness and shoulder strap are comfortable and didn't dig into my shoulders or stomach. The fabric is also breathable, just like performance gear, when you are sweating.

Louis Garneau Power Mesh Compression Top & Shorts Review & Giveaway

I have heard all about Louis Garneau (HERE) ever since I got into running. But, only because I've surrounded myself with like-minded people, like triathletes and cyclists. I had associated the Louis Garneau brand name with those disciplines, but not with running. I browsed their website last winter, when I was looking for compression clothing and running tights, and discovered that they have a quite the selection. As I took up more cold, winter running last year, as I found myself with more time on my hands, I needed more winter running gear.

About the Louis Garneau Company (from their website):

For over 25 years, Louis Garneau has been an innovator in the world of cycling. What started in his father's garage has grown into an internationally recognized industry leader that specializes in the design and development of technological and innovative gear. We take great pride in our extensive product line that addresses the needs of all types of cyclists and athletes. We strive to produce products that exceed expectations and set benchmarks for technology and performance in the industry. We transform intuitive ideas into intelligent products. We capture an audience of millions of cyclists worldwide through our products and not only have we built a company from their needs, we offer a cycling solution which includes a one stop shop for all your cycling needs.

Louis Garneau offers and mens and women's specific running gear (HERE). The prices are a bit more steep than what I'm use to, generally ranging from $75-$100 per item, but the fit is awesome. It's not often that I personally will sport compression gear (other than compression socks!) alone, without a running skirt or shorts over the top! But, these products I tried really hit me in the right spots, snug where they should be, and gave where I needed it! I typically wear a medium and was sent a medium in both pieces. They fit comfortable, but I could have probably gone up one size in each (just because of my preference with compression gear). But, still ... the size/fit was not a problem.

Womens Compression SS Top in White (HERE) - $89.99
The Compression SS offers the benefits of Certified Lycra Power Compression for the upper body. Lycra Power supports blood circulation and helps resist fatigue in the muscles. The Compressive Fit is not restricting and is designed to facilitate your muscle movement.

Womens Compresson Shorts in Black (HERE) - $74.99

The compressive fit of the Compression Shorts favors blood circulation and promotes muscular stability and injury prevention. Powerband compressive cuff replace traditional silicone grippers that cut off the bloody supply. Huggfit waist for women provides a compressive not restrictive fit.

I tried the top on quite a few runs, paired with different bottoms. I tried the shorts on only two shorter distance runs. They didn't ride up and prevented chaffing on my mommy thighs. The top didn't bunch up either. I often experience a lot of riding up in the front, at the end of a race or a sweat session. I hate having my tummy exposed for all to see. This didn't happen. The material for both pieces is soft, smooth and COMFORTABLE (to the ultimate!). I never thought compression gear could be COMFORTABLE?! But, this was. It was a bit tough to stuff myself into it at first, but I felt comfortable ... and confident ... wearing both pieces out on my runs.

They held up great through sweat and some drizzle outside. I felt as fresh as one can be after a good training run. I didn't feel drenched or terribly stinky afterwards.

Their pieces tend to be available in white and black only. My only beef with their products is that they aren't "gender specific" in color and don't offer a variety of options. You all know I like to be vibrant and stand out on the course ... and their products just don't offer that. But, if I can pair it with a fab running skirt (like I did!), then I'm game!

Mile 1,000 .....

Well, this weekend I ran MILE ONE THOUSAND for the year!!! Since I started running in 2005, this will be my fourth year in a row over 1,000 miles. I had set the bar high again this year, to reach 1,500 miles by December 31st (like I did last year). It's not looking likely, but I will come close to reaching my goal. It's not like I want to KILL myself to get another five hundred miles in this year. I want to ENJOY THE JOURNEY. Like I said, life is all about balance right now ... and running is still apart of my life ... despite the obstacles, blessings, and distractions. So, I'm happy with everything I've accomplished ... will accomplish ... in 2011.

Running is something that I can control. I can decide to head out the door and do it. Or, I can decide to do something else that I would enjoy much more at the moment. Usually I opt to run. I have never regretted a run and tell my clients the same thing. But honestly, sometimes I don't do it. I've been running 5-6 days a week this year, very consistently. But, if plans come up with a friend or bedtime routine with the kids takes longer than usual and I don't get my 9 pm run in on the treadmill ... there is always tomorrow. There is always another day to log those miles. And, obviously those events that guided me away from my training program and my daily running routine weren't obstacles. They were LIFE. And, I logged those 1,000 miles around LIFE.

I control my journey.

And, I control my destination.

Where is your journey
taking you?????

...... BIG or small ......
What did YOU
accomplish this weekend??

Tough Chik Tee Product Review & Giveaway

I came across Touch Chik online (HERE) last Spring. I was initially sucked in by their cute tee shirts, but they also have hoodies and performance apparel for runners, cyclists, triathletes ... and tough chiks! They even sell some items for the little tough chiks out there, like Little Diva.

The Tough Chik Story (as told by Shannon):

Tough Chik is performance and casual apparel for active women. The Tough Chik story started when I began training for the San Francisco marathon. One post-training run evening I was complaining to my mom about my various aches and pains. I told her not to worry, however, “I am a tough old bird” I quipped.

“No, you are a tough chick!” my mother replied without skipping a beat. To give some context, my mother and grandmother have referred to themselves as “tough old birds” for decades due to their resilience through life's trials and tribulations. I thought it was funny that I was the “tough chick”, the next generation.

A few weeks later I came home from a long day at work and was dreading my training run for the evening. I felt like I was coming down with a cold or some other illness that would be a great excuse to skip this run. Just then, opened my mail and found an encouraging card from my mom that said “tough chick” with a cute image of a baby chick. Of course I had to run after that!

During the marathon my mom gleefully waved a large poster with a hand-drawn chick on it as she proudly cheered on her “tough chick”. During the course of the marathon, I kept an eye out for the “tough chick” poster as it was my mother’s beacon from the crowded, marathon sidelines.
It was during my marathon that I realized how very disappointed I was with women’s performance apparel. After the marathon, I started riding more frequently and my disappointment with our apparel choices grew. Most everything was pink or powder blue and very expensive. The “Original Tough Chik” needed something edgier than butterflies…a balance between cute and strong. I spend a lot of time riding with the boys on mountain trails, I need to look the part.

So with my imagination, a design background and a strong network of supportive family and friends, Tough Chik was born.

This is women’s apparel that appeals to real women who want to make a statement about who they are and what they’ve experienced along life’s journey.

This is what tough looks like…

Little Diva and I were so excited to receive a fun package from Tough Chik earlier this month. I've also really enjoyed communicated with Shannon from Tough Chik. She's a gem!

Little Diva and I tried out the womens I Run Tee Shirt (HERE). The women's tee is available in maroon and navy blue. The maroon had a purplish tint to it ... I really like it. They retail for only twenty bucks. These are 100% cotton, super soft and comfy and are pre-washed.

I was told that the tops tend to run small, and I agree with that. I was glad that Shannon gave me a head's up, so that I could order a large instead of a medium. It fits great. The women's cut works great with a pair of running shorts, or a skirt or a pair of comfy blue jeans.

The little girls I Run Tee Shirt (HERE) retails for $18 and is available in lilac and navy. Little Diva is sporting the lilac shirt, which is pretty much a standard light pink. Little Diva is almost 8 and I ordered her the size 10-12. It fits great, even layered over a long sleeve tee for fall.

Pair these with some Bondi Bands and you are ready for a family fun run or pair them with a pair of jeans and you are ready to run some errands around town, with the kids in the minivan. Whether you are breaking a sweat or not, you'll still feel like a runner and show everyone else that you are a runner ... and a tough chik, too!

These tees also have the fun Tough Chik logo, placed on one shoulder. Fun, huh?!?!

Interested in finding some Tough Chik apparel that you can actually train in, that isn't 100% cotton? They also offer a cute selection of Performance Apparel (HERE). Their line of tanks, singlets, racerback tanks and performance tees are adorable. The colors are vibrant and the womens cut looks it would fit us mamas great.

Tough Chik Mission Statement:

Tough Chik is not just a clothing line, it is an outlook on life. All women have a personal story that makes them tough and our goal is to celebrate Tough Chik triumphs in a creative way. We want to revolutionize women's performance apparel by linking it to something more profound than just pretty designs.

As Team Tough Chik, we are designers, marketers, runners and cyclists that feed on creative expression. We are proud of our shin splints, scars and pedicures. We strive to support women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds who celebrate life and seek to conquer its challenges and adventures .

Fueling a Run

I'm heading downstairs for four miles with the Little Dude shortly. I'm pretty consistent with my pre-run breakfast. I'm truly a creature of habit if you've ever seen one in every aspect of my life. But, I realize that I'm not only eating what I like .... I'm FUELING my body with things it needs to GET MOVING. A good mix of carbs and protein.

My typical pre-run breakfast includes two pieces of whole wheat toast or a light english muffin, lightly spread with peanut butter; fat-free yogurt or greek yogurt; a banana (just brown and ripe enough!); and a cup of coffee with my favorite creamer (right now, my favorite is the seasonal pumpkin spice from Coffee Mate).

On a longer run, I would eat about the same, but may swap the coffee for a Diet Mountain Dew and a bottle of water; and then consume a gel quickly before I start my stop watch.

Other pre-run favorites include:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios

  • Toast with Nutella

  • Special K cereal

  • English muffins

  • Chocolate chip cookie dough energy bars

  • Honeycrisp apples

  • Nutrigrain bars

How do you FUEL your body

before a run??

" QUOTES "

I love quotes and motivational sayings. They just bring a smile to my face. I identify with them. Usually I'm having a good day and they just remind me about where I was or where I'm headed. They keep me motivated and headed towards my goals. They refocus me. The keep me grounded. When I'm having a bad day, they remind me that everything is not that terrible. I'm just having a bad moment.

I love picking up display pieces at discount stores, motivational cards from greeting card stores, and one of my favorite places to stalk is online at Quote Garden (HERE). If there are other sites out there like that, I would love to hear about them. Please share.

Just like my blog, my new home is filled with tons of quotes and sayings. I have even printed some of my favorites from the web and taped them in visible spots, like my refrigerator.

How do you get motivated
or keep yourself focused??

2011 Literacy Network Homecoming 5K Race Report

I might have done the silliest thing I've ever done in the history of my training ... I ran my first twenty miler of the year with a speedy friend the day BEFORE I was scheduled for my only 5K of the season (which I had planned on racing, and seeing what I was made of right now). I had signed up for Literacy Network Homecoming 5K (HERE) via a Groupon earlier in the year. $20 for a race ... and for a good cause?! Sign me up! And, I seriously just thought it was THAT cool that there was even a Groupon for a race entry. Awesome.

When I woke up on Sunday morning, I didn't have the kids, the son was shining and my bed was comfy. I thought of hitting the snooze button, and sleeping in. But, I didn't. I cringed as I stepped out bed, thinking my legs, my shins, and my feet were going to be killing me. But, they weren't. What?! Could I seriously go out and run an awesomely fun twenty miler just like that, and not be too sore the next day? Other than my nasty blood blisters on my toes and the sides of my feet, I wasn't too sore. Was walking a little funny, but not sore.

I got dressed in my running gear, ate some peanut butter toast, a banana and some yogurt. Grabbed a water and a Diet Mountain Dew for the road and headed out solo in the Marathon Mommy Minivan.

I headed into downtown Madison and planned to get there thirty minutes before the race. Packet pick-up was the previous two days, so I had already been to State Street on Friday after work, to pick up my packet at Avol's Bookstore (HERE). This might have been the easiest packet pick-up ever, by the way, I was the only person in the store and I got a chance to windowshop on State Street by myself (a rare treat).

I saw the crew huddled on State Street. There was a kids run, as well as 5K and 10K events. I saw several people wiht chips around their ankles. Hmmm .... ? I looked around and saw that there was a spot to grab your assigned chip bracelet. I didn't recall hearing about that at pick-up. But, maybe the information was in my bag that I didn't read. I strapped that on and looked around for a port-o-potty. Not a single one in site. Most of the shops and restaurants on State Street were closed because it was Sunday morning. I guess, this was going to be the first race EVER that I haven't stopped to use the bathroom. It's a good thing that I didn't have to go too bad (in fact, I forgot about it by the time the race started). Always bathroom talk on this blog ... always.

I got to the start line and Bucky Badger (UW mascot) and some UW cheerleaders were there to see us off. Bucky shot the gun ... and we were off. We headed down State Street (a popular street with only foot traffic and tons of local shops and restaurants), with the Wisconsin State Capital building in the background. The trees were in prime Fall color. There were quite a few spectators and families scattered along the entire length of the Street, until we got to Bascom Hill on Campus.

I was not sore and felt awesome. The sun was shining, the temps were good. It was yet another beautiful morning. We headed right, towards the UW Memorial Union, and along the Lakeshore path. The crushed gravel path was scattered with fallen leaves. Lake Mendota's shoreline was to our right, and the UW Campus dormatories were to our left. The race course was an out and back. I crossed the one mile mark around 8:30 and then we turned around, before getting to Lot 60. That turnaround is always fun (not!) and painful. There weren't many women in front of me, from what I observed on the turnaround.

There were a lot of college kids, and even quite a few kids out on the course. There was an adorable little boy out there, right in front of me with his dad. His dad kept telling him how much distance he had left, and the boy kept picking up speed. He couldn't have been more than five or six. He stayed ahead of me til the end, and finished right in front of me. He looked like a little pro in all of his triathlon gear.

We headed back the same way we can and I enjoyed running back up State Street. Guys that finished were cheering for the rest of us that were coming in. We made a right turn and headed to the finish line, where Bucky Badger and the UW cheerleaders were cheering us on.

I knew I wasn't close to a PR (about a minut off, actually), but I felt great ... I finished ... a day after an impromptu twenty miler ... and I enjoyed the beautiful morning. 25:57. Not to0 bad.

I grabbed some Powerade Zero, a veggie delight sub from Subway and some fruit and sat on the steps in an alley and watched other runners some in. It was a fun atmosphere. And, I observed how well the race was organized.

After finishing my goodies, I headed back to my van because I wanted to get a few more miles in around Lake Monona, before I trained a client at Machinery Row.

After I got home from coaching, I headed to the grocery store and headed home to unpack my groceries. Before I did that, I got online to see if the race results had been posted. And, they had. WOW .... they were speedy and well organized!

I typed in my name .... and .... what pops up?!?!?

It's a Lifestyle Change.

I had a race this morning (more details on that 5K later this week), followed by a solo 3 miles while I waited for a client for a coaching session and another 2 miles ... all followed by a weekly trip to the grocery store. I knew my schedule for the day and planned to take my grocery list and my coupons with me when I headed out the door with my running gear. I didn't even think twice about heading to the grocery store in my running gear after 8 miles this morning. The thought never entered my mind to go home and take a shower. Instead, I went there all sweaty, stinky and dressed like this ........

I realized at the check-out that I didn't even take of my race bib and had been wearing it all morning without noticing. I noticed people checking out my compression socks and bright orange running shoes. And, wondered what the heck their problem was. Someone at the check-out asked me if I had just ran a race, and I thought, "Duh! Yep.".

I bought the kids a small pack of donuts for our weekend getaway next week and the cashier asked if I wanted them kept out for my purse, and I said, "No please, those are for my kids". Heck, why would I want donuts for the drive home?!?!?! Then, I asked the bagger to hand me the plastic container of ripe grape tomotoes to snack on in the car on the way home. I was hungry from all that running I did earlier in the day, ya know. Then, I started to chuckle ... I just passed up powdery, sugary donuts for tomoatoes?!?! Seriously?!? Seriously.

I took my groceries to the car and loaded everything into the Marathon Mommy Minivan and headed home. On my drive home, I realized that this truly has become a lifestyle change for me. This was at least the fifth time in a row that I've gone grocery shopping in my running clothes, all stinky and sweaty. In fact, I can't remember the last time I've really run errands in street clothes. And I don't even think about it? Why?! Because, it's apart of my life ... it IS my life!!! Last week, when I was at the same grocery store, several people approached me and were asking me what sport I played. Oddly enough, no one guessed running. Other guesses included tennis and volleyball ... and one guy that just asked if I was trying to bring 80's retro socks back in style.

But, since I've taking up running in 2005, it has gradually become apart of my routine and my lifestyle. And, with the daily excercise, my eating habits have changed, too. I still splurge and indulge (sometimes too much making myself sick). I love ice cream and cupcakes. But, when I feel ill after having two or three .... or four servings, I realize how good "fueling" my body with the right things feels. How eating the right things .... AND moving my body daily helps balance everything out. I don't even think twice about throwing two teeny tiny containers of raspberries in my shopping cart for Little Diva, even though they are 2/$5 ... because I would think it was a bargain if I through 2 bags of chips in the cart for the same amount. So what if she eats a whole container in one sitting.

When I unloaded my groceries, I realized that I really have come a long way. Our kitchen counter is filled with a huge basket of fruit.

Our fridge is filled with more fruits and vegetables. TONS of yogurt for all three of us. Sugar-Free jello that's ready to grab on the go. Enought Diet Mountain Dew to tame my addiction. Powerade Zero and bottled water. Tons of Diet Dew and Coffee and lots of Coffee Mate to get me through my day as a Super Hero (ok, maybe that's not the best thing to have stashed in my fridge ... but there are a lot worse things).

Our fridge and our pantry aren't the perfect picture of healthy choices (like those donuts!), but it is close. I make sure that healthy choices are easily accessible for all three of us. So that we can make good choices.

I keep telling everyone that I coach, that running WILL become apart of their daily routine. That it's not going to happen over night. But, someday you are going to WANT to get out for that run (all on your own). That if you don't get your run in, that you will be crabby. That you will start reaching for healthy foods to fuel your body for a run. That you will appreciate your body for what it is. Some believe me, some have already have seen signs in themselves, and some just laugh at the thought. I loved hearing fromm a client last week, that she saw people out running while she was running errands in her car, and was JEALOUS that they were getting a run in and wanted to join them. That's the lifestyle change that I like hearing about. You can start your new lifestyle TODAY!
