Action Wipes Review & Giveaway

These wipes are a great size and super convenient.  If you are running a race, you can just put them in your post-race bag and grab a wipe immediately after you hit the finish line.  They are large enough to towel off and cleanse your entire body - and leave you feeling refreshed.  You don't feel sticky and there is no film left on your body.  They simply get rid of all of the stink, the sweat, the good ole disable effort left behind after a workout.  You can immediately get rid of that griddy, white salt on your face and body after a marathon.  And you can enjoy that post-race meal with friends and family, feeling a little bit better about yourself.

I recently received a copy of 100 Marathons: Memories and Lessons from Races Run Around the World, by Jeffrey Horowitz (Skyhorse Publishing), a spectacular compendium of running advice, sporting excitement, and travel adventure in 3,930 miles.

I'm still sifting through the pages of this book - but my husband grabbed it as soon as it came in the mail.  He said it's a good, easy read.  It provides some nice solid motivation to get your butt to the gym and fit in those workouts - even during these cold, winter months.  It's enjoyable following his journey from marathon to marathon - being in awe of some experiences and relating to others.

Jeffrey Horowitz is a certified running and triathlon coach and a personal trainer who has run more than 150 marathons across six continents. Formerly an attorney, he quit law with the support of his family to pursue his passion for endurance sports. Jeff now works with the Washington, DC, Triathlon; the Nation’s Triathlon; the free triathlon summer camp ACHIEVE Kids Triathlon; and Team Hope, a charity fund-raising training group that benefits the Hope Connections Center, a cancer services organization. Honest Tea Kids Pouches Review & Giveaway

Little Diva and Little Dude have loved trying out all of the products we've reviewed from Honest Tea.  We were thrilled to get a big shipment of products for kids during their summer promotion this year.  What a fun treat.  We've seen it in the grocery store and at Target, but hadn't purchased it.  The kids always love the crushable pouches over the juicebox varieties, if they can swing it.  I think the pouches make them feel more grown up.

The kids were sent two flavors of the Honest Tea Kids Pouches - Goodness Grapeness and Super Fruit Punch.  These pouches are sweetened only with fruit juice.  All five varieties have been updated by removing the organic cane sugar and increasing the juice content - now between 30-42% depending on variety. These juice pouches were released exactly a year ago on store shelves and have been a huge hit.  Like their adult counterpart - The Honest Teas - these have become really popular with health-conscious families.

Dirty Runner Rockstar Running Top Review & Giveaway

I was introduced to a  Dirty Girl in early 2013.  I had read about a race that the held in Canada - and was instantly intrigued once I found out that they also had a small clothing line.  They offer race teams and runners Custom designed running gear, Custom running shirts  and an adorable line of unique running shirts and sleeves for women.  Their custom running gear is perfect for team events, fundraising and Ragnar Relay events.

I was sent this beautiful Rockstar Running Top from Dirty Runner.  It's unlike anything I've seen in stores.  The fabric is super soft and the print is amazingly unique - and totally fun.

This adorable top is available online for $40.  The fabric is soft and light.  Great for when you just want to cut the wind or cooler temps for a few miles.  I love running in this top in the spring and fall months.  I also like layering it under a sweatshirt in the winter, as my base layer.  The length and cut of the sleeves is super flattering and the length of the shirt is great for my waistline.  I love the mixture of color and black-and white and the image on the front of the shirt.  It also washes up really well.

Dirty Runner is also involved with The Great Chocolate Race, which will be held in St Catharines (Niagara) on May 14 in 2014.  They are offering 5K, 10K and 10mi events.  Did I mention that it's one of Canada's top ten themed races - check it out!

New Year, New You

A lot of people begin the New Year by making resolutions. Taking a vow to lose weight, exercise more or spend more time with family. One starts the year with great intentions, but then quickly relapses into old habits. Why is it so hard to stick to those New Year’s resolutions?

Here are some of Michelle’s suggestions to make these intentions a reality this year:

·      Write down your intentions and keep them in a visible place. Michelle suggests tape to your bedroom mirror or the dashboard of your car.

·      Get to the source of whatever is keeping you in a rut. Are you in a stressful relationship that causes you to eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s every night? Are you stressed at your job and feel too tired to exercise after work?  If you don’t tackle the root of the behavior, it will be much harder to accomplish your goal.

·       Be clear about what your life would look like once you achieve your goal. If you resolve to go to the gym more, how will this benefit you? Get connected to the result of your action, and you will be more likely to stick with your plan.

·       Reward yourself with every little accomplishment. If your intention is to lose weight and you lose 1 pound a week, pamper yourself with a massage. Big changes do not require big leaps.

Permanent change is more likely to happen gradually than through one big restrictive plan.  Allow time to climb the ladder one rung at a time.

TrailHeads Ponytail Running Cap Review & Giveaway

I always, always, always love working with TrailHeads and their awesome products.  Their Twister Beanie is still my absolute favorite winter running hat.  The bright, bold pattern is unique and a conversation piece at almost every group run I attend.  And it keeps my head really warm and is super comfortable and soft.  I can't say how soft that hat is - it's amazing!  I also have a pair of their Twister touch-screen gloves and they are super versatile for running and working my ipod when I get sick of songs  And, of course they keep my hands nice and toasty out on the road.

I was sent the TrailHeads Goodbye Girl Ponytail Running Cap to test out this fall.  I'm not much of a cap running gal anymore, but it's nice to have it on a bright, sunny day - especially since I don't typically run with shades.  The cap was super lightweight and didn't give me a "baseball cap headache".  The ponytail loop is also super handy.  The white mesh kept my head cool, and I loved how the white fabric was accented by the hot pink piping.  And the best part for this mama, is it's machine washable.  Bonus!
